On June 25, 2013, by Lisa Montgomery One of the best features of my house is its windows. The incredible amount of glass around the perimeter is what initially attracted me to it. But as much as I like the views and fresh breezes offer, there are times when I wish that I didn't have to play with them both... and thanks to technology I don't, and neither.
Equipped with electronic hardware windows can be opened and closed automatically depending on the time of day or weather conditions. Motorized window treatments can do the same for open and close when it is appropriate. There are also Windows that can go from transparent to opaque for privacy and forms of automated harvesting skylights sun light. There's even a small intelligent device - that can wash the Windows.
When you link the technology with a qualified custom electronics (CE) professional, Windows can do all sorts of wonderful tricks. These are some shining examples of our recent home of the year contest page.
